Attach a module to other records
Link a module's records to deals, leads, contacts, companies, team members or other modules, show them as tabs, and use module fields elsewhere.
Most modules belong with something else: a site visit with a deal, a ticket with a contact, a vendor bill with a vendor. Attaching a module lets each of its records point at those records, and shows the module as a tab on them.
Only owners and admins can change what a module attaches to.
Choose what a module can be attached to
- Open Settings → Modules and click the module.
- Under Can be attached to, click each kind of record it belongs with. A chosen one is highlighted; click it again to remove it.
- Leave Show on those records ticked to show the module as a tab on them.

The choices are:
- Contacts, Companies, Deals and Leads: each record of the module gets a box to pick one of each. If it can be attached to both a company and a contact, picking a company offers to fill in that company's contact as well.
- Employees (team members): a box to pick the colleague the record concerns, shown as Employee · the team member this is paid to. Use it for commissions, expense claims or anything paid to a person. The list can show an Employee column.
- Another of your modules, such as Vendors: the CRM adds a field to this module named after the other one, which points at its records. For example, ticking Vendors on a Vendor payments module gives every payment a Vendor field.
Where the links show on a module record
On a module record's card, on the left:
- Linked records holds the boxes for the contact, company, deal, lead or employee. Change them and click Save.
- Attached to lists the deal, lead, contact and company it is linked to. Click one to open it.
The module as a tab on other records
With Show on those records ticked, the module appears as a tab across the top of each record it can attach to, after General, with a count. For example, a deal shows Client payments 3.

The tab lists the records attached there, with their stage, a few of their list fields, the owner and when they were last changed.
- Click a name to open the record.
- Click New and the module's name (for example New client payment) to add one that is already linked to this record.
- Click All and the module's name to open the whole module.
A module attached to another module shows as a tab on that module's records in the same way. Untick Show on those records to hide the tabs. The links themselves stay.
Use a module's records and fields on deals, leads, contacts and companies
You can also go the other way, and put a module on the form of a lead, deal, contact or company. Owners and admins set this up:
- Point at a module record. On a record's card, click Customise form, then Create field, and choose Bind to a record. Under Points at, pick your module. Each deal (say) can then name one property, contract or vendor, shown as a link.
- Show a module record's field. In Settings → Custom fields, add a field of type Show a linked record's field (read-only). Under Linked record, pick the field that points at the module (it is listed with the module's name in brackets), then under Its field, the field to show. The value is read-only here and changes when the module record changes.
- Use the same field. In Settings → Custom fields, choose Use a field from another module, pick your module and one of its fields. The field is added here with the same type and choices, and the choices stay the same in both places. Each record keeps its own value.
See Add custom fields and arrange the form for the rest of the field settings.
